I must admit that I am one of those persons who have taken their country for granted for far too long. I have been rushing around so much that I have not seen all that transpires around me. Just the other day I had to wait for three hours while my car, a Honda Civic, got serviced and to kill some time I had a cappuccino and read the paper. Still, that only killed about half an hour and so I decided to stroll around the city for a bit.
I was amazed how relaxing it was to just go for a walk and to take in the surroundings. Usually I am in such a rush that I miss all the beauty that is around me. Fortunately I had my camera with me and it helped me to see things in a different light.
It was then that I decided to start this blog, to share with others what I had taken for granted for so long, Adelaide and the surrounding countryside. Where possible I will try to leave a piece of history to go with the photos.

So, just as explorer Captain Charles Sturt did as he explored this state, I will endeavour to do the same with this blog sharing with my readers some of the stories and sights of the land I call home.

What an amazing blog! Thank you so much for publishing these photos of Adelaide – they give a great insight into what Adelaide is about. I’ve searched the web to find an insight into the lifestyle of Adelaide and found it in your pictures and comments. By the way we are emigrating to Adelaide next July and your enthusiasm for Adelaide has shone through.
I’m glad you liked it Mary and I’m sure you will find us Aussies a good bunch. I’ve only just touched on the scenic quality of my lovely home and am only constrained by time and work commitments. I will be posting more whenever I can. I hope you will become a regular visitor.
