It’s amazing how far the Huyundai has come over the years. I remember when they first hit Australia and people saw them as some cheap import, and in those days that’s pretty well what they were. But that is the past and this is the present and like I said at the beginning of this post they’ve come a hell of a long way.

A survey conducted by Interbrand actually placed them eighth in the world in 2009 leaving Porsche, Lexus and Nissan behind. It’s not surprising that their latest release, the Hyundai i45 sedan is creating such a stir. I myself was amazed when I first saw their new commercial advertising their latest Hyundai sedan. It was pretty amazing. Even though you can see that commercial in this post you may can view the Hyundai i45 on YouTube just so you can read the peoples reviews of the car.

The new Hyundai i45 Sedan is really quite remarkable. The finish is exquisite and the styling is such that it will appeal to a large portion of the market. Not forgetting that many people are worried about global warming the guys at Hyundai have tried their utmost to make sure this car is both fuel efficient and has reduced emissions.

They’ve succeeded in meeting these requirements by giving the i45 features the latest 2.4-litre Theta-II GDI petrol engine with an all-aluminium construction making for a lighter engine. The Hyundai i45 even has an ‘ECO’ monitor system to assist drivers to achieve the best fuel efficiency possible. using this system they can monitor how efficiently the car is running by checking the dashboard display which indicates the current fuel economy thereby allowing them to drive as efficiently as possible.

No matter how much I rave on about this car you just will not be able to appreciate it unless you go to your nearest dealer to check it out for yourself. Naturally the best way to do this would be to take a brand new Hyundai i45 Sedan out for a test drive and only then can you really make up your mind as to how good this car really is.

I’ve had a lot of people comment on the photos I’ve used for this blog as well as my other photo blog and they are all amazed at the quality of those photos. I’ve mentioned on more than one post how much I love my Panasonic Lumix DMC FX50. They’re so surprised to hear that I’ve used a simple point and shoot camera as the quality of the photos belie the size of the camera.

I was so excited to learn there was going to be a LUMIX Life competition where Aussie Lumix photographers can be part of a special project. It’s a competition were Lumix owners can submit a photo taken with their camera as long as it’s main focus is something to do with Australia. Man, this whole blog is about Scenic Adelaide so I’m bound to find something here, and if not I’ll just take another photo.

I was also pretty exited to find that there is a Panasonic Australia on Facebook page where you can read all the comments left from people on their wall. It’s good to see that they do not remove the negative comments, not many of those, as this goes to show the integrity of the company.

the whole thing starts on April the first 2010. This gives those who haven’t any photos that focus on Australia time enough to get out there with their Lumix cameras taking as many photos as they can. What a great excuse to see more of this lovely country that we live in, taking photos of it that will bring back fond memories, not to mention that it could possibly win us a prize.

Yep, there is going to be monthly giveaways as well as a final prize at the end of the competition, but I reckon the best thing would be if my photo was displayed with those taken by the pros like Ken Duncan, Peter Eastway and Bill Bachman

Although born and bred in Australia, seeing as how my parents are Italian, I have 100% Italian blood coursing through my veins. I reckon that and the fact I was brought up on Italian cuisine is one of the main reasons I love Italian food.

I remember growing up as a kid when other kids used to make fun of me because of what I ate. Now it seems that the shoe is on the other foot and more and more Aussies are eating Italian food and one of the most popular ones has to be pizza! What I love about pizza is that you can have it at almost any time, for a complete meal, for a snack while watching a great movie or even when unexpected guest come and you want to give them a good feed.

Now, you can’t always go out for a pizza and there are times when you just can’t be bothered and that’s when frozen pizza saves the day. I’ve always got some frozen pizza sitting in the freezer and now that I’ve heard that Tony’s Pizza is one of the best I’m just going to have to check the local supermarket freezer to see if they stock Tony’s Pizza and if they don’t I’m going to have to ask them why.

Honestly, the worst thing I hate about pizza delivery is the wait, and the followup calls when you’ve been waiting what seems for hours. Then there’s always those occasions when they stuff up the order and you get the wrong one. At least when I rip one out of the freezer I know what I’m getting, and nothing beats the smell of pizza warming in the oven!

For those of you who have been to Australia you know that Australia is a land of vast open spaces because of that, petrol being s o damn expensive and all, more and more Aussies are looking for fuel deficient cars. That isn’t the only reason for our search for ‘greener’ cars as we are also concerned about our environment and so many Aussies when updating look for green cars with some sort of green credential.

One such car is the Hyundai Santa Fe and global green challenge wanting to prove that they had the goods and that the Hyundai Santa Fe was a force to be reckoned they entered it into the transcontinental global green challenge.

What better place to hold the challenge in Australia, a country that has proved to be very demanding on it’s cars, and included covering a distance of 3,147 kilometres from Darwin to Adelaide. I can only imagine the jubilation felt by the guys that developed this remarkable car, when it won the SUV class in the challenge. I reckon they were absolutely wrapped with that result.

You have to admit, when looking at the results, completing that sort of distance in the harsh Australian conditions, after seven days of grueling competition, to have consumed a total of just 160.46 litres of diesel with an emission level of only 137.67 grams of CO2 emission per kilometre, well that is pretty remarkable.

It’s not often that  I get the opportunity to write about something positive and that I enjoy, and I just love my cars, and it is important to point out to others who are concerned about global warming how they should consider the following points when choosing their next car.

The thing is even though many people want to do the right thing, they’re  not always prepared to do it if it will cost them, say a loss in performance. I know, it sounds crazy but there are actually people who will base their judgement on certain criteria like that. I’m sure that was why the guys who designed the Hyundai Santa Fe made sure that whilst reducing the CO2 emission of the car they still maintain, if not improved, the car’s performance.

Anyway, the whole idea of this post is to bring to peoples attention that environment is very important to all of us and for that reason when next choosing a new car they should seriously consider one that has good green credentials.

Although Adelaide is only about 6km from Adelaide airport it still may be a good idea to organize a rental car if you haven’t anyone that’s able to pick you up at the airport. Thanks to the Internet you can now Compare Car Rentals online as this can save a whole lot of time.

Since the airport upgrade to a new dual international/domestic terminal in 2005 it has received numerous awards one of which was being named the world’s second-best international airport. I have to admit, living here my whole life, that it was a vast improvement on the old airport, and it was with some pride that I can say it was voted Australia’s Capital City Airport of the Year the 2009 Australian Aviation Industry Awards in Sydney.

While it is true, as a South Australian, I love Adelaide and I believe it resides in the best state in Australia, as an Australian I believe I live in the best country in the world. I know most people would say this of their own country, and that’s fine, yet I still feel that we as Australians are truly blessed.

There is one thing that I have always dreamed of, and that is to tour the country. I’ve visited Queensland, NSW and Victoria, but only just briefly. What I would really love is to hook the car to a caravan and take a year to see Australia properly.Perth Metro Western Australia had a lot to offer.

Another reason I would really like to make Perth my first stop is because I’ve heard it’s actually a lot like Adelaide. Even so, I reckon once I’m ready the first thing I would do would be to check out the WA Tourism website, as this would provide me with the most relevant and up to date information of where to go and what to see.

Seeing as how I would be taking the caravan I probably wouldn’t have much need of a guide to Perth and WA Hotels, but then again, knowing the wife she would want to live it up occasionally, so just to keep the peace I may have to stay in one or two.

The Seven Stars Hotel on Angas St Adelaide is one of the many pubs that you will find in and around Adelaide. People don’t just frequent pubs for the beer as the tucker is usually pretty good and it’s always a great place to get together with the mates. If your the type that likes to have a bet or two, you may even try your luck at the pokies. personally I’d rather perve on the shielas and have a beer and a chat with mates.

The Seven Stars Hotel even has it’s own comprehensive website complete with a virtual tour of the interior and views of the function rooms. I reckon these guys are so technologically advance that they would even be able to accept a credit card or two.

The

It wasn’t all that long ago that I took the family for a holiday in Sydney, which was pretty good, but because of the wife and daughter, most of the time there was spent shopping and Frank, my son, and I were dragged helplessly along. Whilst I admit that Sydney offers a great shopping experience it is so much more than that. There is so much to see and I missed a lot of it because so much time was wasted checking out shoes handbags and other such crap.

If I was to go there again, I reckon I would spend a whole lot of time just soaking in the atmosphere and hitting all the tourist spots. The thing is that I could probably do it all again and save some money because, for a limited time only, there is an Accor Hotels City Super Sale on. This sale covers 27 cities across 10 countries in Asia Pacific, cities such as Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Hanoi, Manila, Mumbai, Aukland and Sydney are included in the sale.

This time around I would stay at the Novotel on Darling Harbour because it offers so many photo opportunities. Did I mention that this time around the vacation was going to be one big photo shoot, and believe me there are a lot of opportunities for taking photos in Sydney. I took this one of the Opera House on my last visit and I would love to go there again to explore different angles, exposures and the like.

The thing is that Sydney is more than just your usual icons such as Sydney Harbor Bridge and the Opera House. The city itself is a mixture of new and old architecture and it is the old architecture that I found so appealing, especially the way it mixes in with the new.  Whether by day or night photo opportunities abound but if I want to do it all again I will have to act quickly if I am to take advantage of the low air fares and hotel accommodation because the more I can save the longer I can spend there soaking up the atmosphere.

It has been a long while since Cher has been Down Under to visit us in Adelaide, the 15th and 16th of March 2005 to be exact, and I reckon that there would be a whole lot of us who would love to have her come down for another show. The thing is that while it may be awhile before we get her to come down to the Adelaide Entertainment Centre again there may well be some of us who may be able to see her a whole lot sooner.

This is all due to the fact that the great Celine Dion is no longer performing in Las Vegas and as a great celebrity is needed to replace her we are fortunate enough to be able to buy Cher tickets at Ceasar’s Palace where I am sure she is going to be a regular.

Cher, a renowned American pop singer-songwriter, actress and record producer is well know for putting on the best shows and it isn’t just because of the great costumes that she wears. This gal just happens to be an exceptional performer. Her current show called ‘Cher at the Colosseum’ incorporates fourteen dancers, four aerialists and has seventeen costume changes by Bob Mackie. It’s no wonder that her fans are saying it is her most spectacular show to date!
