I seem to have caught the photo bug and I am constantly looking for unusual photos to take. Rather than start a whole new blog I though that I would just start a new category on this blog called ‘Just Photos.’
Unless otherwise stated all photos have been taken with my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX50, a really nice 7.2 mega pixel digital camera. I took a series of photos after it rained one day and this is one of them.
It’s simply amazing how crystal clear the air seems after it has rained. I love the way the drops show a reflection of the plant it is cohabiting for that brief period of time.
I went to my cousins wedding on Saturday and they had it at the St Laurence’s Priory in North Adelaide. As you can see by the picture it is a beautiful church. The original foundation stone was laid in 1899 by the Dominican priesthood.
I’ve driven past this lovely church quite a few times, but fortunately on this day I was able to go in. It was a really lovey Church and I would have got some shots of its interior but the wife swiped the camera.
Oh well, at least I managed to get a photo of the Church itself.
Not only that I also managed to take some shots of the grooms hire car. Why? Because it was a Ferrari thats why!
In case you don’t recognize it, it’s a Ferrari 360 Modena which has a 3.6L 400 hp V8, and the roar of the engine was music to my ears. In case you are interested in Mass times etc. then simply follow this link.
For those of you of Italian background, who are considering a trip to Adelaide during September, you may consider taking part in the annual feast of the Madonna Di Montevergine. This year will mark the 53rd anniversary of this popular feast and it continues to grow with each year.
Held on the last Sunday of September the procession starts from the Hectorville church and ends a few miles later at the St. Francis of Assisi Church at Newton. Some of the locals like to refer to Newton as the ‘Piccola Assisi.’
After the procession reaches the church at Newton a Mass is held in a large marquis, as the Church itself is no longer able to hold the large numbers. Mass is usually said by a visiting Italian priest and many of the guests include political dignitaries, of which Premier Rann was one in last years celebration.
After mass the festivities begin which include eating, drinking catching up with old friends and listening to the entertainment. As far as entertainment goes there is always somebody new. Last year they had Antonio Villano who was booked as ‘Tenore Straordinario’, or extraordinary tenor, and from memory he really wowed the audience. As far as the food is concerned, the pasta is just like mamma makes and the pizza is divine. There is also a variety of other Italian continental delicacies including cakes.
Then for the grand finale, what else but a great show of fireworks!
For several years I have been asked to record a video of the event and I have posted a portion of it here for those of you who are interested.

In days of old it is said that women and mothers in general had it pretty hard because they did not have all the modern conveniences that today’s mothers have to make their lives easier. While this is true as far as inventions such as washing machines, vacuum cleaners and dish washers are concerned women of today are struggling with a more ferocious beast called stress.
They have to contend with a whole lot of other issues than those pioneering women. The biggest of which is most likely that of helping their mates to provide income for the general day to day expenses. In days of old they may have tried to sell eggs, produce and home made goodies but in today’s world this would bring very little income to family coffers.
Luckily tody there is an avenue for many women to make a modicum of extra income. This is thanks to websites such as SocialSpark who allow Mommy Bloggers to generate enough income to help pay the family bills as well as put some aside for special occasions such as birthdays and for Christmas presents.
The fact that these Work At Home Moms, or WAHM’s as they are sometimes called, love blogging and can actually get paid for doing what they love is an added bonus. Their blogs provide a lot of information to women around the globe, whether it be how to start their own blogs and how to promote it to blogs that provide a myriad of tips to mothers. They are truly an asset to the information highway and we must say thanks to SocialSpark for providing such an opportunity for these well deserved women, without whom, the world would be a sorry place to live in.
Perssonally all I can offer at this moment to all these lovely mommy bloggers is a few flowers.
St. Andrews Uniting Church can be found on Jetty Rd. at picturesque Glenelg. Every time I walk past this church I am spell bound by its simple beauty.
For a very concise history of this beautiful church, you could no better than going to the St. Andrew’s By The Sea site which is extremely easy to navigate and has a whole heap of relevant information including services. As of yet their ‘gallery’ link does not seem to be working so you will have to make do with my photos for now.
