Holdfast Shores Marina Glenelg

The creation of the Holdfast Shores Marina and the extension of the Patawalonga breakwater is probably one of the dramatic changes in the are in recent history. This particular shot is of a section of the Marina showing some of the boats and the restaurants and other shops that exist on the other side. It is a really popular spot that is frequented by locals and tourists alike, especially the cafes at night.

It doesn’t matter if it is summer or winter, you will always find a good selection of people walking around enjoying the atmosphere or having a nice cappuccino while watching others strolling around.

Sunset On The Esplanade At Glenelg

Sunsets are beautiful no matter what part of the globe you happen to find yourself. You just need the right light and background setting. This particular shot was taken at Glenelg and as you can see it has the beach as a bacground. There are many beaches near the City of Adelaide but Glenelg is by far the most popular. this is probably due to the many cafes and retail outlets that is found there, especially along Jetty Road. The fact that the stores are open 7 days a week is also an added attraction.

The Glenelg Ferris Wheel Fails To Move

This was to be a mini version of the iconic single arm London Eye ferris wheel. Mini as opposed to London Eye’s massive 135m tall version, complete with 32 enclosed glass gondolas, ours is only 25m-high with a capacity for carrying 80 people. The Pommy version can carry 800! Still it is rather cute, but to this day I still haven’t seen it move. I think it was still in construction when I took this photo so maybe it will come alive one day soon.

St Andrews Uniting Church

St. Andrews Uniting Church can be found on Jetty Rd. at picturesque Glenelg. Every time I walk past this church I am spell bound by its simple beauty.

For a very concise history of this beautiful church, you could no better than going to the St. Andrew’s By The Sea site which is extremely easy to navigate and has a whole heap of relevant information including services. As of yet their ‘gallery’ link does not seem to be working so you will have to make do with my photos for now.

The Orange Spot Bakery Tempting The Taste Buds

The Orange Spot Bakery, located on 752 Anzac Highway Glenelg, has to have the best pies and cakes in town. Even though I was born and raised in South Australia and I have visited Glenelg on many occasions, last Australia long weekend (January 28th) was the first time I ever stepped foot into this establishment.

It was definitely one of the highlights of my visit as the products that I bought and took back for the family to enjoy were sensational.

Just to give you an idea of the prizes they have won I took a picture of just a small selection of their trophies.
